‘Show Your Potential’ plan to produce more Microsoft certified professionals

MUSCAT: The Innovation and Support Centre (ISC) and KnowledgeOman.com have teamed up to launch one of its kind series of study groups called ‘Show Your Potential’.

Graham Watkins, senior consultant with Microsoft Gulf and senior infrastructure consultant at the Innovation and Support Centre, said: “We are passionate about helping the community show their potential and are excited to announce the launch of a series of sponsored study groups called ‘Show Your Potential’ through KnowledgeOman.com. Currently in Oman, there are many companies struggling to find qualified candidates for jobs based on Microsoft technologies. At the same time, there are many candidates in Oman who want to study and pass Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) and Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) exams but need some help reaching their goal. We are pleased to launch this initiative to fill the gap.”

The Show Your Potential programme aims to help students, individuals and IT professionals wanting to pass Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) and Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) exams by demonstrating the value of Microsoft certifications, how they relate to job opportunities in the marketplace, providing resources for passing the exams while also explaining exam techniques that can be used to pass exams.

Using the exam techniques and study resources Show Your Potential study groups will be formed to get individuals together to study for the exams, if two brains are better than one, what about three or four or five?

He added: “The Show Your Potential programme is currently in discussion with a number of companies to provide sponsorship in the form of study materials and exams fees for passed exams for those who may struggle to find the exam fees.

“With help from all participants, the Show Your Potential programme will be in a position to bring Microsoft Certified Professionals together with companies requiring qualified candidates to stimulate a growth in local IT certifications while also helping Oman become the leading supplier of qualified IT professionals in the Gulf.”

The venue for the Show Your Potential program is the Innovation & Support Centre (ISC), a joint Microsoft Oman and Information Technology Authority (ITA) initiative based in Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM).

Using the Innovation & Support Centre training facilities as a base the Show Your Potential programme will provide candidates with the exams skills required to successfully pass Microsoft qualifications and also provide access to hardware for those students who require a PC to study.
