Comex to showcase IT School by Tariq

MUSCAT: Comex 2008 — Oman’s largest and much-awaited IT, Telecom
and Technology event — will showcase a daily IT School presented
by Microsoft professional Tariq Al Barwani.
The IT School will function from tomorrow till April 30, from
7pm to 9pm, and will also have a morning session on May 1 from
11am to 1pm.
To be opened by Dr Juma bin Ali bin Juma, minister of manpower,
Comex is being hosted under the auspices of the Ministry of
Transport and Communications and Information Technology
Authority and supported by Telecommunications Regulatory
Authority.
Organised by Oman International Trade & Exhibitions (OITE), the
18th edition of Comex will have two sections — Comex Business
from tomorrow till May 1 and Comex Shopper from tomorrow till
May 2 at Oman International Exhibition Centre.
Organised on the sidelines of Comex 2008, the ‘IT School with
Tariq Al Barwani’, will begin with Corporate Tech Day, focusing
on IT & Business, how these two functions relate and how IT adds
value to business.
On Tuesday, Tariq will enlighten aspiring IT professionals on
the different roles available in IT and will throw light on how
to make the switchover to IT.
A special session will be held for retired and elderly
individuals on how IT influences and drives our lives. The last
session will be dedicated to school, college and university
students focusing on courses and subjects to select and
concentrate on for a future in IT.
The IT School will be ideal for students, businessmen as well as
corporates to gather quality information on information
technology shared by Tariq Al Barwani, who has made an impact in
the field.
Atif Khan, manager-exhibitions at OITE, said: “We believe in
adding value to our event each year and apart from the daily IT
school presented by Tariq Al Barwani, we will also host an ITU
workshop on the sidelines of Comex.
