Presentation at SQU on Dynamic Web Technologies MUSCAT — The information systems group (ISG) of the Sultan Qaboos University in collaboration with the world’s software giant Microsoft has invited Tariq Hilal Al-Barwani, Oman’s popular IT expert, to present a session on ‘Dynamic Web Technologies using ASP.net” at the lecture hall of the University on Monday. This comes after the tremendous response received for the seminar he held two weeks ago on “IT success and career path” at the Computer Science Department in the University. Tariq has developed and worked on various web projects from banking, entertainment, telecom, tourism, insurance, IT and leisure that have achieved remarkable excellence in the Sultanate. At the age of 18, he along with a team of professionals at the United Media Services, one of the leading Media and Advertising Agency, have developed the first horizontal portal in Oman, www.omanaccess.com . By the age of 20, he had gone solo to develop the first IT portal, www.tariq.net, which was selected as the best dot com in 2000, and was later purchased in an undisclosed whooping amount by one of the leading group of companies, OHI Telecommunications Co. In 2005, Tariq managed to lead Nawras in becoming the Best Information and Communication Technology Website in the Pan Arab Region and subsequently the Best Website of the Year, in Oman Web Awards Competition held last year. Tariq said, “It brings me great pleasure to illustrate the tips, techniques, and technologies that create effective and dynamic web solutions that every organization depends-on to become competitive and successful today.” A number of students from the college of science, engineering, commerce and arts are expected to attend the session to learn and explore about how the web technologies can be used to benefit the government and private sectors in Oman. |
