The Oman-German
University of Technology (OGTech) is organising a career counselling
seminar in applied information technology for school leavers at Radisson
SAS Hotel tomorow. This is the time of year when school leavers are
thinking about their possible future careers, and to help them decide,
the career counselling seminar on the important field of information
technology has been organised, a press release issued by OGTech said.
The seminar will be conducted by academics and professionals from
industry and government, including Tariq Hilal al Barwani, Online
Manager, Nawras and IT expert, Hassan Abdul Ali Mohammad, Deputy General
Manager IT, Oman Arab Bank, Azher Hussain, Technical Account manager,
Microsoft, Ali Hussein al Lawait, IT Security Manager, Ernst & Young,
and Dr Otto Spaniol, Professor of IT at RWTH Aachen University, Germany.
Following a general panel discussion on the importance of information
technology and its importance in modern world, attendees will have an
opportunity to talk with speakers on a one-to-one basis to ensure that
all their questions are answered and that they obtain as much
information as they require to make informed decisions concerning their
future careers.
An important demand for qualified IT professionals comes from all
sectors of industry and commerce in a variety of applications. Careers
in IT offer a fascinating range of opportunities in an increasingly
technological world, including system analysis and software development,
analysis and design of software-intensive technologies, operation and
operations management of large-scale systems installations, consulting
on information and communication technology issues for small and large
user organisations, and research in computing technologies, systems and
applications.
