MUSCAT Nawras bagged a Golden Trophy at the Pan Arab Web Awards 2006 competition, which was held in Amman, Jordan, on April 27. “The competition attracted over 350 participants in 21 categories, in which the website, nawras.om, was positioned first and won the Golden Award for the ICT (Information & Commu-nication Technology) category winning over websites such as batelco.jo and dubaiinternetcity.ae,” according to a company press release. The trophy was the second award for the Nawras website, after it won the Golden Trophy for Software and Telecommunication at the Oman Web Awards in 2005. Tariq Hilal Al Barwani, Online Manager at Nawras, said: “After winning the Golden Trophy for Software and Telecommunication at the Oman Web Awards, we are pleased to bag a regional web award for Nawras and once again received recognition for our website development. We will continue to work hard with our website bringing online communication in Oman to a whole new level while striving to improve and bring Oman forward." The Pan Arab Web Awards was created to recognise the excellence in web designing and aims at bringing together companies from all over the region in a competition for the best website in various categories. Barwani added: “We are proud of being selected as the best ICT website in the region. Serving our customers and putting Oman firmly on the Global World ICT Map is one of our goals. Our dynamic and up-to-date bilingual website has attracted thousands of users and had millions of page views, both locally and globally. We will continue our efforts to attract more users by adding more features for the benefit of the existing and future customers.” The objective of the competition was to raise the standards of the regional websites and other online applications that are developed in the Arab world, in addition to boosting the creative and technical excellence of the web owners, designers, software developers and the like. |
