OTI to conduct in-depth computer
courses
MUSCAT — Tariq bin Hilal Al Barwani, a top Omani IT expert, will be
conducting in-depth computer courses at the Oman Training Institute (OTI).
Tariq, currently here on vacation, has completed his first year in
preparation to embark on a Masters programme in computer science in one of
the top universities in Canada. Tariq, who was required by the university
to score at least B- in all the subject as a pre-requisite to qualify for
Masters programme in computer science, has scored As in all the subjects
with total 3.84 GPA, a press note said. With these results, Tariq will be
considered a teacher assistant at the university this September, it added.
“The computer science programme is not an easy one; it was quite a
challenge for me,” Tariq noted.
Tariq and OTI will jointly conduct courses like MS Outlook; MS FrontPage,
MS Access, C Language, Programming in C ++, Visual Basic, and Java.
“It is an honour for me to deliver the best of IT for Oman during my
vacation, I have always wanted to return to Oman after my education in
order to share my knowledge, serve people in Oman and put Oman firmly on
the Global World IT Map,” Tariq was quoted as saying in the note.
The OTI was established in 1998 and is considered to be one of the leading
institutes in the Sultanate. It has been initiating a series of change and
upgrading its programme within the institute since December 2000. Due to
the demands of business in the Sultanate, the institute has widened its
horizons to include courses such as management training and consulting
services available on concept of the “learning organisation” meeting their
requirements in every possible way.
