Nawras’ website wins top award
MUSCAT — Nawras, the Middle East’s Mobile Operator of the Year, was thrilled
to be named the winner of the golden award for the ‘Software and
Telecommunications’ category at the Oman Web Awards 2007, held on Saturday at
InterContinental Hotel. This was the third consecutive year that Nawras picked
up the top honour.
In a field of more than 170 entrants across 23 categories, Nawras was lauded
for its creativity and excellence in web design and development skills.
Nawras’ Online Manager Tariq Al Barwani received the award from Sheikh Al
Fadhal bin Mohammed Al Harthy, undersecretary of the Ministry of National
Economy and deputy chairman of IT Authority.
Ross Cormack, CEO of Nawras, speaking after the exciting event, said: “We are
delighted by this acknowledgement because the Nawras website is an important

million customers and of course, our potential customers. It is important that
this channel has a wide-ranging appeal being regarded by everyone as clear,

it has been recognised in this way.

Tariq Al Barwani said the pleasingly different website is continuously updated
to feature all the latest innovations and offers for members of the fastest
growing family in Oman. Just last month, the latest customer-friendly facelift
was completed, giving all users quick and easy access to information, using
fewer mouse clicks than ever before.
“Every part of the website can be accessed simply from the dynamic homepage,”
he said.
“The website is constantly being revised so one can check the latest
international roaming partners for example (currently the count is 304 in 147
countries), or find out just how easy it is to begin enjoying 3G+ Broadband
Internet today, with the fastest internet connection in Oman giving speeds up
to 1Megabit per second.”
Using Omani currency to list prices, visitors to the website can get accurate
and practical answers to any query.

prestigious Pan Arab Web Awards competition to be held next month in Dubai.
