Nawras bags Gold Trophy at Oman Web Awards 

MUSCAT — Nawras was awarded the Gold Trophy for software and telecommunication at the recently held Oman Web Awards at Al Bustan Palace Hotel.

Oman Web Awards aims to serve as an inspiration and reward website creators for their skills so that they continue to improve, as well as to promote the innovative spirit of web designers to meet professional and international standards. Furthermore, Oman Web Awards is an encouragement for all sectors to showcase their websites and be more involved in IT. The Oman Web Awards 2005 had 16 categories in total ranging from various industry sectors including banks and financial institutions, corporate, directories and info services, entertainment, fashion, governmental organisations, industries, media and press, non-governmental organisations, personal, real estate, services, software and telecommunication, students, travel and tourism and transportation.

Nawras was awarded the Golden Trophy in the Software and Telecommunication category. In addition, from the 113 website entrants Nawras was awarded the overall bronze trophy at the Oman Web Awards.

The Nawras website www.nawras.om, is an one-stop location for all Nawras information — from products and services to company information and recruitment. The website furthermore acts as a self-service portal for customers who can log-on and access up to date account history and billing information.

The Nawras website was launched October 2004 and the current design was launched in March 2005 when Nawras began commercial operations. The website has attracted thousands of users and had million of page views so far, mainly from Oman but also from international visitors. The website is bi-lingual and information is kept daily up to date in both Arabic and English.

Nawras will in 2006 focus on attracting even more users on its website by continuously adding more functionality — serving existing as well as future customers.

Tariq Al Barwani, Nawras online manager, who received the awards at the ceremony on behalf of Nawras said: “A big thank you to all loyal users of our website — we are proud of this achievement and we will look forward to improving our website consistently going forward to the benefit of existing and future customers”.
