MPS hosts local IT expert
MUSCAT — Muscat Private School (MPS)
had recently invited Tariq bin Hilal Al Barwani, well-known IT (information
technology) expert and Internet manager of OHI, to spend a part of the morning
with secondary-level students from both the Oman and expatriate classes and
then present a speech on the future of IT.
Later, students had an opportunity to ask computer related queries as well as
some aspect of the personal life and successes of Oman’s whiz kid.
Paul Everitt, English teacher of MPS, noted that Tariq’s visit was not only
beneficial, but it was well timed as the students had been recently studying
public speaking and speech making together with work related issues in their
English classes.
Tariq commended the students on the high quality of the English language
skills and emphasised the need for positive thinking and hard work for
students to achieve their goals.
Tariq said his success emanated from being a good listener, advocating a
policy of extreme humility and working extremely hard. "Never waste time," he
advised the students.
This is not Tariq’s first visit to schools and institutes as he had already
conducted presentations at Indian School Al Ghubra, which was attended by more
than 600students; Muscat College, where a similar programme as at MPS was
conducted; Khimji Training Institute on quality customer care and Deslie
Training Institute for Thanawiya graduating girls and boys students.
Tariq has also been invited for a presentation at the College of
Administrative Sciences, next week.
