Tariq enlightens Dhofar University students, faculty on the prospects of IT


SALALAH — Tariq Hilal Al Barwani, founder president of KnowledgeOman.com and the online manager at Nawras telecom, was invited by Dhofar University to speak and share his expertise and knowledge on Information and Communications Technology with the faculty members and students of the university at the Ibn Rahid lecture hall of the campus on Saturday.

Tariq presented a session on ‘Information Technology: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,’ that focused on the different aspects of technology, how it has progressed throughout the years and what is expected of IT in the future.

Tariq said: “The inspiration provided by the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said has led the Sultanate to embark on a vital mission of building a knowledge economy for the community and facilitating nationwide initiatives via the utilisation of e-Technologies that transform Oman digitally. It is, therefore, very important that everyone in Oman knows what IT is, and what value it brings to the nation.

“My goal is to ensure that everyone in Oman is well-equipped with IT knowledge.” A number of students and faculty members from the science, engineering, commerce and arts departments attended the session. Later, Mohammed Ali Faour, vice-chancellor, Dhofar University, honoured Tariq with a memento.
