Tariq’s list of achievements is impressive. Nevertheless, his motto has always been “The sky is the limit”. Tariq’s contributions to the community have yielded many accolades namely the Man of the Moment, Silicon Super Kid, WhizKid, Genius, Brains of Oman, Hacker, Marketing Guru, Popular IT Expert, Technical Manager and the like. In 2007, Tariq was selected by a leading business magazine (Business Today) as one of the top 50 people that made a difference in Oman. Some of Tariq’s achievements include: 

• Best Personality Award in 2009, presented by Telecommunication Regulation Authority (TRA), a government telecom regulatory body, during the largest IT and Telecom Exhibition Comex 2009.
   
• Most Valuable Professional Award from the largest software company in the world (Microsoft) for four years consecutively 2007-2010. The first and only Omani to receive the award. Tariq had the opportunity to travel and meet Bill Gates (Chairman and Founder of Microsoft) in Washington, United States of America during the MVP Global Summit.
   
• Best IT Professional Award in 2008, presented by the Information Technology Authority (ITA), a government IT body in Oman.
   
• Nawras, one of the leading Telecom operators in Oman, has received many golden local and regional awards since 2005, when Tariq was appointed as its Online Manager to manage the telecom’s online presence.
   
• KnowledgeOman.com, a community IT and Knowledge Sharing Portal, received an International Standard Web Technology Award, within a year of the launch from the Oman Web Awards 2009 Competition. Tariq is the Founder and President, working along with the finest and brightest individuals as a voluntary team from diverse personal and professional backgrounds and industries (public and private).
   
• Tariq was awarded distinction in his Masters degree in Information Technology Degree, from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia.
   
• Tariq was among the top 5% of the leading Canadian undergraduate university, Acadia University.
   
• Tariq was awarded Distinction in his Diploma, Information Systems.
   
• OHI IT Portal received Best Website Award in Oman in 2000, after 6 months of Tariq joining as its Internet Services Manager to create an Internet Development Department and oversee the management of the IT Portal.
   
• Tariq.net, an IT Portal he solely developed, delivered up-to-date and latest Information about the IT scene locally & globally, through an attractive combination of best-of-breed contents with services such as IT News, IT Jobs, IT Conference, Free Emails, Free Downloads, Education, Greeting Cards and more. This was sponsored by reputable organizations such as Bank Muscat, Gulf Business Machine, Khimji Ramdas, Bahwan Cybertek, Genetco, Commercial Bank and Outdoor Marketing. Within 3 months of the launch, the Portal was purchased in a whopping deal by the leading technology solutions provider in Oman IITC (formerly known as OHI Telecommunications Company). The portal was named OHITariq.net and domain tariq.net remained with Tariq for personal use only.

• The "GTO-2-Omantel" program that Tariq created for the General Telecommunication Organization, Omantel before privatisation, was released and launched to the public by GTO which was featured on the  frontpage of all the newspapers in the country. All Internet Subscribers were required to reconfigure their Internet settings (DNS and email SMTP & POP) in order to successfully connect and make use of the Internet. Tariq's program simplified the process by automating the configuration specification outlined by Omantel for all the users to follow. The program was available at Omantel's premises and for download from their website at http://www.omantel.net.om.
   
• The 'Happy99 virus cleaner' program was selected among the best and was featured in hotfiles.com – one of the popular international files download. Tariq continued to develop additional stand alone programs (virus cleaners) for the community that include Fix2001 and I love you Bug.
   
• Tariq was named Best Dot.com in 2000 by the top Business magazine (Business Today).
